About The Position

The position at Southern Champion Tray (SCT) involves safely feeding and packing products on the machine to ensure quality output at the desired target speed. The role includes primary responsibilities of feeding and packing products, maintaining quality standards, and participating in teamwork to improve operations and reduce waste.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic computer skills and ability to utilize software.
• Ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc., and write legibly in English.
• Ability to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English.

Responsibilities

• Safely feed/pack product unglued/glued on the machine to acquire quality product at the desired target speed of each run.
• Remove blanks from a pallet, check for quality of product, and place them into the feed hopper of the gluer machine.
• Observe the blanks flowing through the machine for quality and jam-ups, and alert the Operator of problems.
• Notify the Operator before a new pallet of blanks is needed to maintain adequate blanks in the hopper.
• Fill a corrugated case with the proper case count by picking up the blanks and placing them uniformly into the case.
• Maintain quality standards by learning defective characteristics for products and sorting defective parts.
• Participate in teamwork to improve operations, reduce waste, and maintain lean manufacturing goals.
• Cross train by rotating to different machines and work areas.
• Pack cartons according to work order instructions by verifying counts and following job ticket and labeling instructions.
• Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations to enhance efficiency and safety.
• Maintain a clean work environment in accordance with the 5S system.
• Utilize machine downtime effectively by performing other tasks as instructed by a supervisor.
