About the position

The Feed Mill Technician is responsible for various duties related to the maintenance and operation of the feed mill. This includes housekeeping and maintenance tasks to ensure a clean and safe working environment, assisting in feed manufacturing processes, and managing inventory control of ingredients. The technician will work closely with the Feed Mill Operator and maintenance staff to maximize efficiency and adhere to safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and dust-free mill environment.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance tasks such as greasing bearings and inspecting belts.
  • Assist in repair and maintenance projects with the maintenance staff.
  • Support the Feed Mill Operator to maximize mill efficiency, including filling micro ingredient boxes and addressing ingredient flow issues.
  • Bag complete feeds and load them onto trucks.
  • Receive training on the operation of manufacturing equipment from the Mill Operator.
  • Receive and properly grade ingredients into the mill, both bulk and bagged.
  • Assist in grain and ingredient bin clean out.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance techniques and mechanical equipment.
  • Skill in following oral and written communications, time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow verbal/written instructions and work both independently and in a team environment.
