Summary: Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting, boiler making, insulating, welding, machining, carpentry, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment, and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs. Excludes machinery maintenance. Tasks and Activities: Occupation-Specific Tasks: Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools. Align and balance new equipment after installation. Assemble, install, or repair electrical components, pipe systems, plumbing, and machinery. Clean and lubricate machinery components. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems using blueprints and manuals. Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts. Fabricate and repair counters, benches, and partitions. Inspect and test machinery and equipment for malfunctions. Maintain and repair specialized equipment. Perform routine preventive maintenance. Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work. Generalized Work Activities: Inspecting equipment and materials for errors or problems. Performing physical activities such as lifting, balancing, walking, and handling materials. Servicing, repairing, and adjusting mechanical equipment. Handling and moving objects. Gathering information from relevant sources.
