About The Position

Summary: Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting, boiler making, insulating, welding, machining, carpentry, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment, and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs. Excludes machinery maintenance. Tasks and Activities: Occupation-Specific Tasks: Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools. Align and balance new equipment after installation. Assemble, install, or repair electrical components, pipe systems, plumbing, and machinery. Clean and lubricate machinery components. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems using blueprints and manuals. Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts. Fabricate and repair counters, benches, and partitions. Inspect and test machinery and equipment for malfunctions. Maintain and repair specialized equipment. Perform routine preventive maintenance. Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work. Generalized Work Activities: Inspecting equipment and materials for errors or problems. Performing physical activities such as lifting, balancing, walking, and handling materials. Servicing, repairing, and adjusting mechanical equipment. Handling and moving objects. Gathering information from relevant sources.

Requirements

  • Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Building and Construction: Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of structures.
  • Public Safety and Security: Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations.
  • Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans, blueprints, and models.
  • Engineering and Technology: Practical application of engineering science and technology, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • English Language: Knowledge of grammar, spelling, composition, and meaning of words.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when maintenance is needed.
  • Repairing: Using necessary tools to fix machines or systems.
  • Critical Thinking: Analyzing problems to identify solutions.
  • Equipment Selection: Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed for a job.
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying causes of operating errors and deciding corrective actions.

  • Manual Dexterity: Quickly moving hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
