This is a Time-Limited Full-Time Position contingent upon renewal of federal funding. Renewal date: 09/30/2026 Position currently qualifies for a telework option. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management. This position is located in the Food & Drug Protection Division. The Food & Drug Protection Division has five functioning sections, including the Food Section, the Dairy Section, the Feed Section, the Drug Section, and the Administrative Services Section. In addition, analytical support is provided to the Food & Feed Sections by the Food & Drug Protection Division’s six laboratory branches, i.e. Feed Laboratory, Fertilizer Laboratory, Food Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, Residue Laboratory, and Pesticide Formulations Laboratory. The Agricultural Science Center Laboratory also performs analytical services for other divisions of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and other state agencies. The Division protects the health, welfare, and economic interests of consumers of foods, drugs, livestock feeds, fertilizers, and medical devices by ensuring, through inspections and analysis, that these products are wholesome and properly labeled. Our laboratories have the responsibility to provide accurate, traceable, and defensible data to support Division programs and protect NC consumers. Utilizing a combination of standard cased and in-house procedures and a variety of equipment, the labs are charged with assuring samples are received, prepared, and tested under the highest level of expertise. The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Agricultural Feed Administrator and the Feed Compliance Officer II with the management and submission of FDA contract inspections as well as the implementation of the Auditing standard of the Animal Feed Regulatory Program Standards (AFRPS). The Feed Compliance Officer I must provide training to current Feed Section staff on any updates or new requirements of the feed contract Statement of Work (SOW) and the new or updated AFRPS and must then evaluate the work of staff by reviewing contract inspections to determine the status of staff and evaluate what additional training is needed. The Feed Compliance Officer I will develop and deliver training to staff.
