About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry in the College of Medicine is looking for a part-time Federal Work Study (FWS) - HR Intern, student assistant. This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, for up to 20 hours per week (.50 FTE). A Federal Work-Study permit or award letter for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters is required and must be uploaded electronically to be considered for this position. Job Description: The Human Resources Intern will support the HR department by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks. This position is designed for a Federal Work Study student who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in human resources operations within a professional office setting. The intern will assist with maintaining employee records, organizing files, supporting recruitment efforts, and providing general administrative support to the HR team. Hours are flexible based on students' schedules, with availability between 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. This position is located at 1329 SW 16th Street, Gainesville, FL 32610.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible for Federal Work Study.
  • Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Florida.
  • Interest in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an office or administrative setting.
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) or data entry platforms.
  • Experience with scheduling tools or calendar management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with filing, scanning, and organizing employee documents and HR records.
  • Support onboarding processes by preparing new hire packets and scheduling orientations.
  • Help maintain HR databases and spreadsheets with accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Respond to routine inquiries from employees and direct them to appropriate resources.
  • Assist in scheduling interviews and coordinating candidate communications.
  • Assist with volunteer appointments.
  • Prepare materials for meetings, training, and HR events.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by HR staff.
