The Federal Work Study - Online Photography Program Assistant supports the quality and organization of online photography courses and departmental initiatives. This role assists with reviewing course content for accuracy and functionality, supporting student spring show submissions and program events, and contributing to basic promotional and creative tasks. This Federal Work Study position will support current students in the following ways: ensuring access to accurate and functional course materials, supporting clear communication and organization for student submissions and events, and promoting student work through digital content. In addition, this position will complement and reinforce a Federal Work Study student’s educational program or vocational goals in the following ways: developing quality assurance and attention to detail, gaining experience in digital content and file management, and building communication and organizational skills. These responsibilities support the overall role by ensuring course quality, facilitating student engagement and event coordination, and contributing to the department’s creative and promotional efforts.

Requirements

  • Current Academy of Art University student eligible for Federal Work Study
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or inconsistencies in digital content
  • Basic proficiency with computers and familiarity with online learning platforms (e.g., LMS systems)
  • Ability to manage and organize digital files effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of photography file formats, image resolution, and naming conventions preferred
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content practices
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Canva, Adobe Express, or similar design tools
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Review online photography courses to ensure links, videos, and downloadable materials function properly, supporting a high-quality and accessible learning experience
  • Verify assignment details, due dates, and syllabus/supply information for accuracy across online and onsite classes
  • Identify and report broken links, outdated content, and formatting issues to maintain course integrity
  • Track and organize student submissions for departmental events (e.g., Spring Show), ensuring accurate records and timely communication
  • Confirm file naming conventions and technical requirements (e.g., resolution), supporting consistent and professional presentation of student work
  • Communicate with students to confirm submission receipt and provide basic guidance as needed
  • Assist in organizing digital files and creating submission tracking spreadsheets to support efficient program coordination
  • Draft social media content and prepare images for promotional use, enhancing visibility of student work and program initiatives
  • Compile and organize highlight content featuring selected students to support departmental outreach efforts
  • Design simple graphics using Canva or Adobe Express to support marketing and communication needs
