About The Position

The FWS Café/Store worker is responsible for preparing and/or serving food and beverage items in the Café while providing exceptional customer service and adhering to appropriate food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. The Federal Work Study Café/Store Worker will also work in the Campus Store, processing sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Driver's License - Illinois Secretary of State (ILSOS)

Responsibilities

  • All Federal Work Study employees are required to complete 5 hours of communication service during the Fall and Spring Terms.
  • Customer Service Greet all customers when they walk through the door.
  • Provides excellent customer service and maintains positive attitude at all times.
  • Serves food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction and anticipating the customers’ needs
  • Communicates customer concerns, needs and equipment malfunctions to leader.
  • Sells campus store items to customers while ensuring customer satisfaction and anticipating the customer’s needs.
  • Cashiering Performs cashiering duties including acceptance of payments for purchases, balancing the cash drawer, and preparing daily cash reports.
  • Cleaning Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment and utensils
  • Follows proper sanitation practices per state and federal guidelines.
  • Dust and vacuum/sweep the store as needed or directed by leader.
  • Opening and Closing Procedures Performs opening and closing procedures including turning equipment on/off, taking temperatures of food items and preparing the Café and/or store for guests.
  • Organize for sale items on display.
  • Organizing, Stocking and Setup Maintains an orderly appearance of the café and store at all times.
  • Stocks and organizes merchandise and inventory in the café and store.
  • Assists with setup and caterings.
