The Network Systems Engineer is responsible for delivering advanced technical leadership and infrastructure support for the Azure Core Networking team within Government Cloud environments. This role provides Tier 2 expertise, leading complex incident response, deep-dive troubleshooting, and operational excellence for mission-critical networking infrastructure across secure federal facilities. The position supports 24x7 operations and serves as a technical authority for services including PhysNet, FPN, ExpressRoute, VPN, and advanced network services.

Requirements

  • 1-2+ years of experience in network operations or technical support.
  • High level knowledge of enterprise networking architectures, including advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and secure VPN technologies, with the ability to design, evaluate, and troubleshoot complex network topologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure networking services, including ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, and/or Virtual WAN, supporting large-scale, mission-critical government cloud environments.
  • CompTIA Security+
  • US Citizenship
  • Must have valid US passport
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with federal government cloud environments
  • Proven expertise in advanced network monitoring and diagnostics, including SPAN sessions, packet capture analysis, and root-cause investigation across hybrid and secure networks.
  • Experience with network automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Linux), leveraging automation to improve operational efficiency and reduce recurring incidents.
  • Prior experience in managed service provider (MSP) or cloud operations environment
  • Azure AZ-700

  • CCNP
