About The Position

The FedNow Software Engineer position at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston involves designing, developing, and implementing complex software solutions for the FedNow Service, a new interbank real-time gross settlement service. This role requires technical expertise in applications systems analysis and programming, with a focus on backend development in cloud environments. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with Fed standards, and provide production support for applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of software engineering experience in a team-based environment.
• Demonstrated experience with cloud-first architectures and building/deploying solutions in Cloud.
• Experience with Serverless architecture and CI/CD build tools.
• Experience developing high performance, high volume, highly available environments.
• Experience with Agile software engineering methodologies.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with AWS cloud-based platforms in an enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript, XML, JSON, HTML, CSS, and Python.
• Experience with leading edge Cloud technologies like Kafka, in-memory and NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement new complex solutions in accordance with FedNow and Fed Standards.
• Develop software solutions primarily in backend Cloud environments.
• Provide input into strategic and tactical planning of software solutions and software development lifecycle changes.
• Design and build Java application components, integrating with software components and products for high performance and reliability.
• Train and consult cross-functionally on troubleshooting and resolving complex problems.
• Collaborate with analysts in an Agile team to define user requirements and conduct design reviews for cloud applications.
• Ensure quality of software developed and compliance with Fed policies and standards.
• Provide primary or backup production support for applications.
