About The Position

The OPS Human Resource Specialist at Wakulla Correctional Institution provides essential support to the Field Office Manager and Human Resource Consultant in managing human resources programs. This role involves liaising with institutional staff and the Office of Human Resources to address HR-related issues, ensuring compliance with policies, and facilitating various HR processes.

Requirements

• Completion of a four-year degree from an accredited college or university and one year of professional human resources experience, or four years of human resources experience.
• A high school diploma or its equivalent.

• Experience in a correctional setting.
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Suite applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the administration of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Workers Compensation Program.
• Coordinate and support institutional recruitment and selection efforts in conjunction with OHR.
• Process employment verification in a timely manner.
• Assist with employee fingerprinting, pre-employment drug testing, and physicals.
• Facilitate orientation and onboarding of new employees.
• Support various accounting, purchasing, and budget functions related to institutional operations.
• Coordinate employee separations and associated processes.
• Process and monitor actions in the People First system, including electronic Personnel Action Requests (PAR).
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the Kronos timekeeping system and ensure accurate scheduling.
• Collect and forward human resources-related documents to appropriate offices.
• Process, examine, and reconcile weekly and monthly reports.
