About The Position

The FCT Practitioner is responsible to provide structured, goal oriented and time limited Family Centered Treatment, when possible, in the natural environment to families who need assistance recovering from a variety of issues surrounding substance abuse, mental illness, physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and neglect. An FCT Practitioner is expected to exercise professional judgment and discretion as a significant practitioner in the successful integration of treatment for clients. The FCT Practitioner works designated shifts under the direct supervision of the FCT Clinical Supervisor.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related human service field.
  • Two years of experience in a comparable mental health setting.
  • Valid California Driver’s License, good driving record, and must be able to drive to fulfill the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • SERVICE PROVISION: Provides treatment services to clients including: Crisis intake, Assessment of family needs, Intervention, Evaluation of problems, Monitoring of family/parental progress throughout treatment, and After-care linkage.
  • ASSESSMENTS: Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and in accordance with the fidelity of the model, the Practitioner assesses family needs throughout treatment and case conceptualization using a culturally competent approach.
  • OUTCOMES: Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and in support of the FCT teams, the Practitioner develops short and long-term family goals with measurable outcomes in a timely manner.
  • TREATMENT: Provides individual, family, and group treatment using evidence-based interventions, and case management as needed. Provides Family Centered Treatment to families and guides them through the four phases of treatment. Makes at least two multi-hour sessions per family system per week.
  • DOCUMENTATION: Submits thorough documentation including the intake progress note, client/treatment progress notes, treatment plans, and monthly reports demonstrating frequent collaborations with treatment team members.
  • PRODUCTIVITY: Maintains productivity standards and completes timely documentation of all contacts with clients as set forth by the agency and internal policies.
  • COURT ORDERED SERVICES: May be required to testify in court as subpoenaed or requested by the Department of Child Services or Probation.
  • COLLABORATION: Regularly collaborates with Masada Staff, clients, caregivers, client supports, extended family and friends, other members of the clinical team, and other human services agencies in a manner that will empower the child/family.
  • CHILD SAFETY: Assesses the child safety concerns and provides crisis response services during normal working hours (M-F 8 am to 8 pm), as needed. Is responsible for intensive safety planning and management with community partners, after normal working hours. Immediately communicates critical issues to supervisor and team.
  • MEETINGS: Attends and actively participates in meetings, individual and group supervision, case presentations, and in-service training and conferences as required and scheduled. Attends and participates in Child & Family Team Meetings as requested by referent.
  • TRAINING: Complete the self-guided Wheels of Change® training course and make consistent progress toward achieving “FCT Certification” from the Family Centered Treatment Foundation (FCTF). In addition to the online-based training and required readings, the certification process including Field Certification. Once certified, complete on-going activities necessary to maintain certification from FCTF.
  • STRENGTH BASED: Is capable of accurately identifying and building on the strengths of clients to better reach their potential.
  • RESPECT: Demonstrates respect for the intrinsic value of each person, their individual differences and culture.
  • CONFIDENTIALITY: Maintains strict confidentiality over all records and information related to clients.
  • TRAVEL: Travels independently to various environments as needed (buildings with stairs, various communities, schools, etc.).
  • OTHER: Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
