About The Position

The FBS Assistant Manager, under direction, performs work administering the daily operations and activities of Texas A&M Centralized Finance and Business Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four years of related experience
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and TAMU rules and regulations
  • This position is security sensitive
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field
  • Four or more years of business services experience in higher education
  • Experience in preparing and analyzing financial reports, budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience providing executive-level reporting and customer service to senior leadership
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience
  • Fluent in conversational and written Spanish
  • Familiarity in how business is conducted and how to budget in multiple currencies
  • This position will collaborate with our Costa Rica center and Mexico office which is why Spanish fluency is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manages schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals.
  • Coordinates and evaluates business function, division, or departmental activities
  • Reviews, and updates policies and procedures for functional area
  • Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others.
  • Represents the department on committees and at meetings around the campuses
  • Monitors unit’s budget and assists with long range unit planning activities

  • Provides courteous, timely and effective customer service to assigned departments by serving as the primary point of contact for day-to-day accounting and transactional inquiries, resolving processing issues and coordinating with AABS team members to ensure accurate and consistent service
  • Meets with assigned department leadership to review financial activity, account status, and operational issues impacting day-to-day business functions
  • Advises customers on purchasing, travel, and financial guidelines. Maintaining working knowledge of Texas A&M University delegation of authority, procurement requirements, contract review processes, applicable university and System policies
