About The Position

Under the direction of the Vice President of Preventive Services & Fatherhood, The Program Director shall have general oversight of the program. Because of the program’s service mandate, the Program Director shall be expected to carry a 50% caseload during the quarter when there are vacant case worker positions. Furthermore he/she is expected to work evenings / weekends when necessary. The general responsibilities are to supervise all staff within the Fatherhood program; facilitate groups and conduct administrative and case record reviews to ensure DYCD specified outcomes are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree minimum requirement
  • Knowledge and experience in family development best practices and standards
  • At least two (2) years of successful experience within the past five (5) years in providing fatherhood services to low-income adults (preferred)
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner while managing competing priorities.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity when serving clients that come from different backgrounds and walks of life.

Responsibilities

  • Program Director will provide individual staff supervision 2x a month. He / She will document individual supervision in a separate binder/log illustrating the focus and development of the individual caseworker.
  • Program Director will ensure the caseworkers completes intakes, assessments, individual service plan (ISP) and the basic summary. Priority will be given to the completion of the Pre-and-Post Parenting Skills Knowledge survey to ensure the program attains the contracted number of outcomes each year.
  • Utilize a case management model for participants in all tiers, which would include the following 4 components: (1) holistic assessment of the father’s strengths and needs and development of an Individual Service Plan (ISP) listing supportive services, benefits and resources needed; (2) implementation of the ISP (coordinating community resources and working with and advocating on behalf of the family to meet identified goals); (3) regular review of the ISP to assess whether goals have been met or need to be changed; and (4) follow-up to ensure that the father has received requested services. The Program Director will ensure that the workers enter their progress notes in PTS in a timely manner of the occurrence of the event. Supervisor will review, correct, & ensure the worker’s notes are comprehensive and meet expectations of DYCD of a well written progress note. Importantly meet contract enrollment numbers and (2) outcomes.
  • The Fatherhood Initiative will deliver eight required activities: 1. Orientation, 2. Parenting Skills Training, 3. Supervised Visitation Coaching, 4. Case Management, 5. Community Projects, 6. Support Groups, 7. Family Events, and 8. Workshops.
  • The Fatherhood Initiative will serve and customize services for fathers with varying levels of child visitation, coparent engagement, court and agency orders, skills, and needs. Fatherhood will offer four service tier options to participants. The Fatherhood Initiative will implement parenting skills training to participants with two different curricula: ProFatherhing15 and Supporting Father Involvement (SFI).
  • Program Director will attend and serve as a member of the management team. Supervise interns as assigned and other job-related tasks and duties.
  • The Program Director shall communicate with DYCD personnel, referral sources, school personnel, court officials and other mental health professionals as needed.
  • The Program Director’s attendance is a critical factor as it sets an example for workers, as well as provides stability for the unit. However, their schedule must include flexibility as this is not always a 9-5 position.
