The Domtar Ashdown Mill is seeking high school seniors graduating in May 2026 for our direct from high school, Fast Track, Summer Internship program. Students who intend to pursue a four-year engineering degree in paper science, chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering programs beginning Fall 2026 are encouraged to apply. This is a paid internship with work hours up to 40 hours weekly May-August 2026.This program offers a fast-track approach to learning where students are given hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment to get a head start on pursuing a career in engineering. Students will have the opportunity to learn about engineering roles and participate in real engineering projects to support the path of continuing education. Working directly with senior engineers and supervision, students will become fully integrated into the Ashdown Mill to maximize the learning experience. The Summer Engineering Intern will gain valuable, hands-on, experience in the analyzation of production and manufacturing processes. Our platform provides opportunity for hard working individuals to propel themselves into an Associate Engineering role upon graduation. Career advancement at Domtar exists in operations, maintenance, quality assurance, product development, wastewater treatment, environmental and safety operations. Responsibilities may include (but not limited to): Focus on improving the quality control of finished products by proactively identifying potential problems, and quickly and efficiently troubleshooting issues. Analyze production costs, productivity issues, and provide quality control improvement solutions. Technical exposure to various production and support units within the electrical and mechanical teams supporting piping and instrumentation-based projects. Research and develop processes and guidelines for various functional operational units within the facility. Detailed documentation of findings in various systems. Decipher data, apply findings into project recommendations, and revise project plans/drawings/materials. Drafting and documentation in association with maintenance activities and capital installations. Designing and estimating small projects under the supervision of a staff engineer or engineering manager. Advise/support contractors and maintenance personnel in the field.
