Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Attend to live farm and ranch animals, including cattle.
  • Feed, water, herd, catch, and load animals.
  • Maintain records on animals and examine them for diseases and injuries.
  • Prepare calving areas and sort cattle for sale.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate.
  • Move livestock, feed, and commodities from one location to another.
  • Distribute feed and commodities.
  • Clean and maintain animal housing areas.
  • Break ice in water facilities and maintain heated watering systems.
  • Inspect, maintain, prepare, repair livestock equipment, facilities, buildings, pens, yards, and fences.
