About The Position

The Farmer position is a full-time, hourly position requiring a flexible schedule including occasional evening and weekend work. As with all positions at Carrollwood Farms, the Farmer may be called upon to work in areas outside of the immediate area of responsibility.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in production agriculture
• Knowledge of row crop agronomy
• Knowledge of large animal husbandry.
• Have experience in how to safely operate and maintain farm equipment including: tractors, spreaders, cultivators, discs, mowers, balers, harvest equipment, roller mixers, and more.
• Knowledge about how to store and move grain in grain bins is required, as well as how to store and handle hay
• be able to haul a cattle trailer (including to slaughterhouse) and use cattle handling equipment.
• A willingness to work hard.
• Good, positive attitude.
• Flexible schedule.
• A “no job is too small mindset.”
• Excellent time and project management skills.
• Must be able to bend, lift, kneel, and twist.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time.
• Occasionally work during the rain.
• Able to operator tractors up to 200hp.
• Knowledge and ability to install fencing

Responsibilities

• row crop production (corn, soybeans, small grains, alternative crops) and management
• cover crop management
• beef herd management
• donkey care
• hunting (deer, turkey, and when appropriate released birds), including cleaning birds
• establishing and maintaining wildlife habitat
• maintaining farm landscapes including field edges, roads, and waterways
• farm recordkeeping
