About The Position

The Fischer Farm Maintenance person assists with custodial work, field work and minor repairs at Fischer Farm.

Requirements

• Maintenance staff must be at least sixteen years of age.
• Prior experience working in custodial or maintenance helpful
• Willingness to work outdoors each day.
• Comfortable working around farm animals such as chickens, pigs, goats and honeybees.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in written English.
• Be able to solve problems independently and work unsupervised in most situations.
• Ability to communicate and interact with staff and the public in a positive and friendly manner.
• Commit to the full summer season. Vacations cannot be taken during the summer season. A maximum of three non-sequential days off are allowed.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all farm visitors.
• Perform custodial tasks in historic farm house.
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of farm outbuildings and grounds.
• Perform building and equipment repairs as needed.
• Use power tools as required.
• Assist with livestock care as needed.
• Loading/unloading straw bales, hay bales, and 50-pound feed bags.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
