About The Position
The Sow Farm Manager is responsible for managing the full profit and loss of a multi-million dollar asset base, focusing on driving profitability through lower production costs and increasing the quality and volume of wean pigs shipped. This role involves developing leadership and technical skills within a team of Team Leads and/or Production Technicians, ensuring the effective execution of the Performance Management system. The manager will participate in setting annual operating goals, assessing human resource needs, and reviewing operating costs and performance for production farms within their scope of responsibility. Additionally, the Sow Farm Manager will monitor and analyze biological and financial performance to identify root causes of issues, develop countermeasures, and execute plans to restore performance. The role also includes overseeing the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and development of new team members, promoting safe work habits, and managing all farm inputs such as air, feed, water, labor, and medications. The manager is responsible for implementing standard operating procedures and technologies to improve production and environmental stewardship, as well as ensuring the health and well-being of all animals through effective bio-security practices. Lastly, the Sow Farm Manager will identify major capital repairs and maintain a preventative maintenance program.
