About The Position

Provides general poultry husbandry and poultry research support at the Wooster Poultry Facility; feed and water poultry; adjust feeder height and flow; adjusts and sanitizes poultry waterers; loads and unloads shavings and bedding; hauls feed, carcasses, and manure with proper disposal techniques; weighs, de-beaks and wing bands poultry; assists with dust control; pressure wash and disinfect incubators, hatchers, pens and buildings; removes litter from pens; cleans cages, dropping pans and floor pans; assists in the isolation of poultry from outside flocks; maintains clean buildings; handles poultry in a safe and humane manner; catches and loads poultry; assists with artificial insemination of turkeys and chickens; collects eggs and records egg production data; records mortality; reads wing bands; keeps temperature, humidity and turning records for incubator and hatcher; washes and pedigrees eggs; assists manager, faculty, graduate research associates and post-docs collecting poultry research data; assists with euthanizing poultry according to protocols and processes poultry for sampling; makes and records health observations; assists in collection and maintenance of turkey, chicken, and quail data; assists in maintaining Biosafety level 2 research standards and maintain high standards of Biosecurity; operates and maintains equipment, trucks, tractors, skid loader and physical facilities; other duties as assigned. This position requires rotating weekend and holiday work. This position is a part of the CWA (Communication Workers of America Union). Position located in Wooster, Ohio.
