About The Position

The Farm Irrigation Supervisor is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of drip irrigation systems used in crop production. This position includes the safe handling and application of chlorine gas for irrigation water treatment and the direct supervision of two to three irrigation crews to ensure efficient, safe, and timely operations.

Requirements

  • Experience with drip irrigation systems in crop agriculture preferred.
  • Experience supervising crews in an agricultural or irrigation setting preferred.
  • Training or experience in chlorine gas handling or chemical injection systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
  • Physically able to perform field labor and lift irrigation materials.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and up to 7 days a week during peak seasons.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to step in for the Farm Manager as directed when absent.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and remove drip irrigation lines, tape, filters, valves, pumps, and related components.
  • Monitor irrigation schedules based on crop needs, soil conditions, and weather.
  • Detect and repair leaks, clogs, pressure issues, and system failures.
  • Operate fertigation systems and ensure accurate delivery of fertilizers and nutrients.
  • Perform routine system inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Assist with flushing lines, cleaning filters, and seasonal system setup and breakdown.
  • Work closely with farm management to support planting, cultivation, and harvest operations as needed.
  • Operate and monitor drip irrigation systems to ensure proper pressure, flow, and uniform water delivery.
  • Safely handle, connect, and operate chlorine gas systems for irrigation line sanitation in compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor chlorine injection rates, water quality, and system performance.
  • Supervise two to three irrigation crews, assign daily tasks, and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Train crew members on irrigation procedures, chlorine gas safety, PPE use, and emergency response protocols.
  • Detect and repair leaks, clogs, pressure issues, and irrigation system failures.
  • Assist with fertigation operations as directed.
  • Maintain accurate records of irrigation schedules, chlorine gas usage, crew activities, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Enforce farm safety policies and communicate operational issues to farm management.
  • Support other farm operations during planting, cultivation, and harvest as needed.
  • Cross trains all other farm positions to assist Farm Manager as directed.
