About The Position

The Farm Intern will gain real world experience by assisting farm managers and supervisors with planting, plant stand counts, soil and water sampling and other daily tasks. The intern will conduct data analysis regarding fertilizer usage, irrigation practices and new farming technology to identify farming inefficiencies and target areas for improvement and additional investigation.

Requirements

• Familiarity with farming operations is required
• At least an Intermediate skill level with Excel is required
• Experience working with and analyzing large data sets is desired
• Knowledge of Statistical Analysis
• Ability to work independently with good time management is essential
• Valid driver's license is required

Nice To Haves

• Bi-lingual, Spanish/English is preferred

Responsibilities

• Learn and understand farming activities including ground preparation, seeding, crop growth, and harvesting
• Check fields prior to planting to verify ground preparation
• Deliver seed to fields and conduct physical inventories of seeds
• Calculate acres and beds and assist with marking fields with stakes and flags
• Conduct crop observations such as stand counts to determine plant population per acre
• Collect soil, water and plant samples for submission to testing laboratories and nutritional analysis
• Upload, organize and analyze field data using Excel
• Create and deliver a final presentation to the executive team of Dole Fresh Vegetables
• Other duties as assigned
