About The Position

Primary Responsibilities: Performs risk assessment and field underwriting for new and insured farms. Conducts various levels of farm training for new and veteran agents. Assists agents with quotes, cost estimators, competitor contracts, and sales of farm and crop hail products. Inspects unique farm risks as requested by home office farm underwriters. Collaborates with home office farm underwriter on risks outside of company guidelines. Works closely with commercial field underwriting department. Participates in ongoing learning and technical development. Knowledge and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 4 years of farm underwriting, agricultural industry, or sales experience. Possess a strong agricultural background. Ability to obtain P&C license and FAA Part 107 Pilot’s license. Must have a valid driver’s license. AFIS, AAI, API, or AINS designations preferred. Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills. Strong communication, collaboration, customer service, and political savvy skills. Strong organizational/workflow and training/teaching skills. Ability to work independently with limited supervision and handle stressful situations on short timelines. Ability to manage multiple projects at once, build strong relationships, and stay current with corporate/industry/agricultural/commercial changes. Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel ® and company/industry programs. Physical & Environmental Work Requirements This position involves hands-on work in a variety of agricultural environments. Candidates must be comfortable and capable of performing duties under the following conditions: Outdoor Work in All Weather Conditions: Team members regularly work outside throughout the year and must be prepared for exposure to heat, cold, snow, rain, mud, dust, and variable temperatures. Entry Into Livestock Confinement Facilities: The role requires routine entry into hog, chicken, and turkey confinement barns. This includes working around live animals and agricultural environments with associated odors, noise, and biosecurity protocols. Biosecurity Procedures: To prevent disease transmission, employees may be required to follow strict biosecurity measures. This can include shower-in/shower-out protocols, which require removing all personal clothing and jewelry, using facility-issued garments, and repeating the process upon exit. General Physical Expectations: The position may involve walking on uneven or muddy ground, standing for extended periods, lifting or moving equipment or supplies, and performing tasks that require general physical stamina.

Requirements
