About The Position

As a General Ag (Farm Equipment) Mechanic, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing the machinery that powers our farm operations. From preventive maintenance and diagnostics to field repairs and reporting, your efforts will help keep our production running smoothly and safely. Requirements

  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
  • Works well independently and with others.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • 2+ years of vocational experience or training in mechanics
  • Must be 19 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • No major safety and moving violations reported on MVR within the past (3) years.
  • All potential new hires will be subjected to a pre-employment background and motor vehicle check and drug screen.
  • To perform essential job duties, all potential new hires must be eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Super-Sod insurance guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy equipment operating experience preferred.
  • Experience with farm equipment maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Occasionally operates various mechanical equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, loaders, and irrigation equipment to perform diagnostic-based maintenance.
  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
  • Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling, as necessary.
  • Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
  • Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
  • Prepares reports documenting work performed.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinates with farm managers and supervisors to schedule regular maintenance or repairs on machines.
  • Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with farm manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
