About The Position

Hamilton-Madison House’s Early Childhood Education Program supports and enhances the existing strengths of family child care through programs that promote continuous and responsive relationships, strengthen early learning skills, build resilience, and lay the foundation for all future learning. Hamilton-Madison House views family childcare as a respected and valued profession within the early care and education system in New York City. The Family Worker will be responsible for the day to day engagement with expectant mothers and families, including family assessment, supporting goals and concerns, and liaising with Network staff and providers to address challenges.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education Requirement: Child Development Associate Credential in Early Childhood Education
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working to support families with young children and experience working with toddlers or infants required
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and an appreciation for the unique needs of all providers and families
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese
  • Ability to travel on public transportation or utilize own transportation for required site travel
  • Basic computer literacy and Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects and deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Work with families, expectant mothers, and affiliated providers to create individualized family plans in the provision of family and social support services.
  • Provide ongoing services to mothers and families needing additional support services (special education, mental health services, housing support, etc.).Including attending case conferences and follow-up meetings to better support families with children with special needs.
  • Participate in Network staff professional learning sessions
  • Develop relationships with community partners who provide mental health, special needs, and other support services affiliated providers and families.
  • Connect mothers/parents/caregivers to appropriate resources and make necessary referrals to community partners.
  • Coordinate monthly family engagement workshops, special events, and other activities with the Network team to encourage and maintain family participation.
  • Document all family engagement conversations and sessions in a timely manner and align with the Early Childhood Framework for Quality (EFQ).
  • Assist in ongoing outreach, enrollment, and all other administrative tasks supporting all FCC affiliated providers.
  • Support the Network Director in updating family information in the Network database.
