About The Position

The Family Violence Boro Park Community Social Worker will provide essential support and services to clients primarily from the Jewish community in New York City who have been affected by intimate partner violence. This role involves conducting comprehensive assessments, creating safety plans, and offering a continuum of services including counseling and referrals to legal services. The Social Worker will engage in outreach efforts to build trust within the community and collaborate with partner agencies to enhance service delivery.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (required)
  • Prior experience working with domestic violence victims (required)
  • Familiarity with the Orthodox Jewish community or willingness to learn
  • Superior interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Excellent computer literacy

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual Hebrew, Russian, or Spanish (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assess client needs and provide immediate crisis support and safety planning services.
  • Conduct intake assessments in the main office, satellite locations, and remotely.
  • Design safety plans with clients and perform case management services.
  • Assist clients with applications for Public Assistance, housing, and other services.
  • Provide information and referrals regarding community resources.
  • Offer support and counseling services in individual and group settings.
  • Determine clients' eligibility for financial assistance and complete applications.
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork and database input in a timely manner.
  • Establish relationships with partner agencies, including legal services.
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy to clients.
  • Engage in community outreach efforts in a culturally informed manner.
  • Comply with funding grant demands and assist in preparing grant reports.
  • Manage a large caseload of clients and provide educational workshops.
  • Participate in community-specific outreach events and represent the agency at meetings.
  • Supervise MSW student interns when available.
