The Short-Term Assessment & Respite Home (STAR) program is a 6-bed group home for males ages 11 to 18 years of age. The purpose of this program is to provide short-term care, assessment, and a range of clinical and nursing services to children removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or other high-risk circumstances. Staff provide empathic professional care for youth within a routine of daily clinical and educational activities. The youth will receive assessment, substance abuse screening, educational support, and intensive work to engage the family. Family Support Worker (FSW) provides services to youth and families in their homes and out in the community. The Support Worker develops a supportive relationship with family members through direct contact in the context of home visits, phone contacts and assistance in times of crisis. Implement the SBIRT, coordinate with educational sources and provides case management as needed. They must work a flexible schedule to accommodate the individual family needs, schedules, and to respond to crisis.
