About The Position

Meeting Street is seeking a Family Support Worker (Bilingual English/Spanish) for their Healthy Families America program, working 40 hours weekly. This role is crucial for providing support to pregnant women and families with children under the age of 5. The position involves conducting home visits, offering guidance, and implementing family-centered, strength-based interventions to foster trusting relationships and optimize parent/child dynamics. The Family Support Worker will also educate families on prenatal health and early childhood development, assess needs, and make referrals to community resources. Requirements

  • Two years of providing services to and/ or engaging families with infants and toddlers in services.
  • Must have experience working with families with multiple needs.
  • Bachelors degree in Human Services, Child Development, Education or related field, with a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, college coursework preferred.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Training.
  • Be able to sit, stand and walk continuously throughout the day.
  • Bend, stoop, squat, push and pull (10-15% of the time).
  • Kneel and reach above the shoulder level occasionally (1-33% of the time).
  • Utilize the computer and other office equipment (50-75% of the time).
  • Provide own transportation to meet job requirements.
  • Driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Provide critical support to pregnant women and families with children under the age of 5.
  • Conduct home visits to assess the needs of families, offer guidance, and provide family-centered, strength-based interventions directed at establishing a trusting relationship within families to optimize parent/child relationships.
  • Work directly with Spanish-speaking and English-speaking families with young children to provide family-centered, strength-based interventions directed at establishing a trusting relationship within the family to optimize parent/child relationships.
  • Provide curriculum-based prenatal health and early childhood health and development education to families to promote the child’s well-being and safety.
  • Assess additional needs or crisis situations and make referrals to other community resources to support the overall health, safety, and well-being of the family.
  • Maintain a caseload of families by coordinating meetings directly with them in a variety of formats to meet them where they are, including by phone, virtual video chat or in-person.
  • Thoroughly and objectively document the functioning status of families and report data within program deadlines.
