About The Position

Family Support Specialist Lead Under assigned supervisor, the Family Support Specialist Lead provides support and supervision of team and provides transportation services in the service area to clients whether in or out of the DCF system, the Foster Care Program or In-Home Services Essential Duties and Responsibilities Drives personal vehicle 100% of the time. Documents all family visitation notes in FSFN. Complete monthly supervision with direct reports. Complete and maintain the transportation log on a daily basis. Oversee the day-to-day activities of the family support workers. Attend and participate in weekly and monthly meetings with staff and training sessions as required by the specific job or department Drives personal vehicle 90% of the time Observe and submit accurate written documentation on the service provided and the functioning of individuals and families as required by specific job or department Provide approved transportation when requested in service plan Serve as a liaison with collaterals such as DCF, schools, etc. Submit expense vouchers, renewed driver’s license, and automobile insurance coverage on due date Work cooperatively with other agencies, caseworkers, transporters, family aid specialists and family support services Works in collaboration with Office Assistant and fellow Family Support Specialist to ensure the needs of the agency and clients are met for transportation; coordinates with his or her Supervisor, client and caregivers to facilitate the transport Assist with change of placements and reunifications Assist with supervision of parent/child visitations when needed Assist with training new transporters Transport children to various appointments and locations; assist with Doctor appointments – Case Manager must meet the transporter at appointment Facilitates weekly team meetings Works closely with Supervisor to provide oversight of the unit Works with Supervisor to organize and maintain the transportation schedule Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Education : Associates degree in business or related field
  • Experience : Three or more years’ experience with transportation; Three or more years in a childcare field; previous supervisory experience
  • Other : Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with OHU required levels of coverage for auto insurance; geographic knowledge of the area
  • Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and adaptive skills to expand software application skills as necessary
  • Ability to assess, interpret, and deliver care-related information concerning the life-span development of children and families
  • Excellent written and oral communication, with ability to document in a clear, concise manner
  • Highly organized, yet flexible and can handle multiple projects and or priorities well with the ability to manage tight deadlines
  • Intermediate data entry skills
  • Positive attitude concerning all aspects of working in a challenging environment (including significant patience and respect for children and families who can become quite angry and demanding), sensitivity to cultural needs, and ability to serve as a positive member of a working team
  • Resourcefulness in researching issues, analyzing information skillfully, solving problems, and developing solutions with minimal supervision in a timely manner
  • Ability to exercise discretion and ensure confidentiality
