For these reasons and many more Catholic Charities of Onondaga County is a great place to work! The Family Support Program Associate will assist families using our Emergency Hotel Services. This position helps with daily warm meal deliveries, school transportation, and general family support tasks to ensure each household receives the care and assistance they need. Facilitate the transport of homeless individuals and families residing in hotels. Conduct initial diversion/intake screenings prior to contacting 211 to verify homelessness eligibility of individuals and families. Respond to all incoming calls from clients and/or providers; complete a diversion screening with walk-in clients prior to calling 211 to confirm homelessness eligibility. Pick up clients and transport them to the appropriate shelter as determined by 211/DSS. Assist families with transportation to school or essential appointments as needed. Deliver warm dinners and breakfast meals to families at hotel sites. Track meal deliveries, manage Meal Refusal Forms, and communicate meal times clearly to families. Support families in connecting to SNAP benefits and other community resources. Work with designated hotel agencies/shelters to provide a warm client handoff. Maintain accurate delivery and transportation records. Communicate with other shift Program Associates/Caseworkers/admin as needed while ensuring there is adequate staffing prior to leaving a shift. Observe all safety rules and regulations including use of personal protective equipment. This position pays $18/hour. This is a full-time position.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. with up to three (3) years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
  • Mobility sufficient to work in an office environment.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment including machines.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented.
  • Valid N.Y.S. Driver’s License
  • N.Y.S. Central Registry clearance
