About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. It involves ensuring the accountability and security of cashier funds, maintaining the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise, and ensuring displays remain well-stocked. The role also includes assisting customers in locating items and prices, explaining store policy, and assisting employees in resolving routine problems and performing special assignments. The incumbent will assume the responsibilities of the Family Store Manager as needed. Key responsibilities include assisting the Family Store Manager in supervising day-to-day operations, training and instructing employees, and monitoring work for accuracy and compliance. The position supervises and participates in cashier activities, assists Store Clerks with sales and problem resolution, ensures cashier fund security, and helps prepare daily sales reports and bank deposits. It also involves assisting customers with item location and donations, explaining store policy, maintaining store displays by arranging, rotating, and re-stocking items, and determining appropriate merchandise prices for quick turnover and fair value, including reducing prices for slow-moving stock.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D.
One (1) year working in a retail store, preferably a Salvation Army store with some experience supervising the work of co-workers
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Responsibilities

Supervises and participates in the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures
Ensures the accountability and security of cashier funds
Maintains the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise ensuring that displays remain well-stocked
Assists customers in locating items and prices and explains store policy
Assists employees in resolving routine problems and performing special assignments
Assumes the responsibilities of the Family Store Manager as needed
Assists the Family Store Manager in supervising the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse area
Trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures
Monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures
Supervises and participates in the cashier activities ensuring that all customers are treated in a polite and friendly manner
Assists Store Clerks in ringing-up, recording, and receipting sales
Assists Store Clerks in resolving problems
Ensures the security and accountability of the cashier funds
Assists in preparing daily sales reports and bank deposits
Assists customers in locating items and prices
Assists customers donating items
Explains store policy and ensures compliance with the same
Supervises and participates in maintaining the store displays
Arranges, rotates, and re-stocks displayed items to ensure the displays remain in a plentiful, neat, and orderly manner for customer convenience and store attractiveness
Determines appropriate prices for merchandise ensuring quick turnover of stock while also bringing a fair and reasonable price for The Salvation Army
Detects merchandise that is not moving and reduces prices accordingly when necessary
