About The Position

The Family Stability Program Specialist is integral to SVdP’s strategic initiative to expand services for homeless families throughout the state. As the need for housing services continues to grow, our Family Stability program serves as a hub of information and resources to support volunteer caseworkers (whom we call “Vincentians”) providing motel stays and other emergency shelter solutions for homeless families. The Specialist will be a diligent student of shelter and housing resources for families in Metro Atlanta and beyond, becoming a subject matter expert for Vincentians, while also providing limited case management services for homeless neighbors served through the Council headquarters. The Specialist role is proactive, offering education, resources, consultation, training and facilitation of internal grant funding disbursement to support our 76 chapters throughout the state. Some travel outside the Atlanta Metro area is required, including occasional evening and weekend work. The position necessitates a service-mindset, ability to multi-task, maintain detailed and accurate records, learn and use new database systems, problem-solve, communicate effectively and work with a diverse group of statewide volunteers and neighbors in need to help offer optimal solutions for urgent family needs in our communities.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in case management, non-profit or faith-based service sector, or equivalent experience.
  • Comfortable with technology, including Outlook, SharePoint and Microsoft Suite: Power Point, Excel, Word.
  • Ability to create and manage Excel spreadsheets including basic formulas.
  • Ability to present housing resource information to groups and help develop materials to share this content.
  • Ability to travel independently throughout the state to attend meetings and to present at meetings, including weeknights and weekends.
  • Ability to use and learn to use new case management systems
  • Resourceful and ability to problem-solve under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
  • Excellent judgment, time management, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in nonprofit housing or homelessness services preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to support the mission of a Catholic based, non-profit organization

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Council’s statewide database of shelter, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, and permanent supportive housing providers and related resources and develop relationships with mission-aligned nonprofit partners.
  • Develop knowledge of the statewide Continuum of Care (“CoC”) networks and attend CoC meetings to be able to share this information with Vincentians and develop working relationships with the CoCs and involved organizations.
  • Work with motel managers and corporate representatives to negotiate and document best rates for SVdP bookings on behalf of homeless neighbors.
  • With support from the Communications department, create effective communications including website content, brochures, and webinars to educate Vincentians on options, Council-based grant funding, protocols and best practices for serving homeless families.
  • Field questions, calls and messages from Vincentians in a timely manner.
  • Regularly attend evening and weekend meetings with chapter and district-level Vincentians in and outside of the Metro area to help educate and field questions relative to housing resources and the SVdP Family Stability program.
  • Help develop internal grant program criteria, protocols and processes to facilitate funding reimbursement for SVdP chapters
  • Document, track and facilitate grant funding disbursements to SVdP chapters, working with internal Finance and Vincentian Services team members
  • Provide limited case management and direct assistance for neighbors in areas outside of SVdP chapter-assigned territory, treating each neighbor-in-need with dignity and respect.
  • Use SVdP’s proprietary case management system for direct assistance and facilitating grant reimbursements.
  • Work with Council-based department teams including Hunger Initiatives, Housing, Council Support Center Management and Programs and Services, to help coordinate a robust Family Stability program effort on behalf of unhoused families throughout the state.
  • Complete SVdP’s mandatory training for volunteers with emphasis on our approach to ministry.
  • Be willing to embrace the tenants of the SVdP “Rule” including Catholic social teachings relating to the dignity of all life and our call to treat others with compassion.
