About The Position
The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is hiring for a strong team member to serve as a Family Services Specialist for our Assessment and Resources Team (ART). This team is responsible for working collaboratively with community partners to respond to citizens in crisis by providing resources/services to address barriers to self-sufficiency. You will be responsible for interviewing and assessing the immediate and long-term needs of Chesterfield County and Colonial Heights residents who contact the agency requesting emergency services. You will use creative critical-thinking skills to help adults and families resolve their immediate needs while also connecting them to long-term resources within the Department of Social Services and organizations within the community. To do this, you will provide financial assistance for rent/mortgage, utility bills, and prescriptions, as appropriate; you will work with internal and community partners to make referrals; and you will contribute to team discussions to identify the evolving needs of our community so that we can continue to serve our citizens best. Perform other work as required.
