About The Position

Position Overview: The Family Services Manager will assess and process each individual request for assistance in a timely manner. Be responsible for accurate and confidential handling of case files, including up to date client records. Be current and up to date with the Salvation Army's policies and procedures for assistance community resources and community agencies available to assist clients. Description of Position: Represent The Salvation Army in a manner that brings glory to God. Assist in every way requested to carry out the spiritual and total mission of The Chambersburg Corps of The Salvation Army in terms of community needs and our ministry to the people of our community. Assess client needs with necessary documentation Work in tandem with the Operations Manager and Receptionist in seeking to meet client needs whenever possible by providing direct assistance, referrals, continued guidance, etc. Conduct client interviews in a timely and efficient manner with compassion. When necessary, schedule follow-up appointments with clients. Build relationships within Social Services to encourage those we serve to participate in corps/church programs/services. Assist the Operations Manager with all facets of the Annual Christmas Angel Tree Program Adhere to The Salvation Army policies and procedures Attend Salvation Army sponsored seminars and events. Attend inter-agency meetings. Must be approved in advance by Corps Officer. Accurately record all Social Services statistics. Effectively communicate with other staff in regard to client scheduling, needs and follow-up Evaluate unmet community needs and report on how we can best respond to those needs. Work within Social Services budget Establish a presence in the Soup Kitchen, working alongside of kitchen staff and volunteers to determine how we can meet the needs of our guests. Support Corps operations as needed The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the candidate will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent
  • Formal education or experience
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
  • Bilingual encouraged
  • Must treat all people with compassion and respect
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and appropriate intervention skills within The Salvation Army required
  • Must be able to keep information in a confidential and secure fashion
  • Must be a self-starter who can work in an environment with multiple changing work priorities
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and be able to drive for The Salvation Army
  • Must be passionate about the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Vision of the Chambersburg Corps.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must possess an understanding of and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
