About The Position
As a Family Services Coordinator (FSC) at New England Donor Services (NEDS), you will provide support and guidance to family members of trauma patients regarding end-of-life decision options, including organ and tissue donation. The FSC is an empathetic and skilled professional dedicated to the mission of saving and enhancing lives through organ and tissue donation. You will assist hospitals year-round to support collaborative donation processes, ensuring that all potential donor families are offered the opportunity for donation. The role requires fulfilling an on-call schedule, responding to new and open referrals in hospitals, and conducting donation discussions as appropriate. You will also educate donor families about the diagnosis of death and advocate for donation while respecting cultural and religious beliefs. The position involves maintaining an individual authorization rate that demonstrates best practice skills in obtaining authorization and completing all required documentation. Additionally, you will provide initial follow-up to donor families after donation and participate in required meetings and trainings.
