Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a social service discipline is required.
  • Degrees that can be considered include: social work, drug and alcohol education or counseling, psychology, criminal justice, guidance counseling, or marriage and family therapy.
  • Experience with case management is preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, a personal vehicle for work purposes, and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Department of Children Services (DCS) to provide services to youths and families placed in custody in Tennessee.
  • Serve as a youth's guardian and be aware of DCS policies that guide care and services.
  • Monitor the case from a legal and permanency perspective and create and monitor permanency plans.
  • Manage 14-18 cases and deliver services in the family's home or other locations as needed.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to meet the family's needs; on-call rotation required.
  • Ensure that all medical, dental, and educational needs are met and maintain child's records.
  • Complete documentation that is online/web-based and accessible from home.
  • Meet with supervisors at least three times per week to discuss progress and personal development.
