About The Position

The Family Services Worker is responsible for providing direct assistance to clients in need, focusing on alleviating immediate needs such as food, clothing, and utility assistance. This role involves interviewing and assessing clients, maintaining accurate records, and administering seasonal social service programs. The Family Services Worker will also compile monthly program statistics in accordance with organizational and funding guidelines.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Social Services preferred, or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a related field.
• Knowledge of computers and various software including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel, or ability to learn quickly.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Very good written and communication skills.
• Must be able to lift 25lbs.
• Valid Driver License.

• Bi-lingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview clients and maintain client files.
• Assist with services such as emergency food, utilities, rent, and other basic services.
• Schedule appointments for clients as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality with clients and other agencies/service providers.
• Maintain statistics on Social Services.
• Maintain accurate and confidential files and reports as required.
• Work with Corps Officers on special projects such as Christmas, Summer Camp, and Back-to-School Project.
• Oversee Pantry and lunch programs.
• Order food/supplies and maintain inventories for Pantry and Lunch Programs.
• Make appropriate referrals for clients to various agencies/organizations and coordinate service with said agencies/organizations.
• Attend meetings/seminars/workshops as requested to represent the Lorain Salvation Army and to network with other service providers.

Benefits

• Compensation starting at $17.00 per hour.
