About The Position

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB. The Family Service Worker oversees and coordinates feeding programs within the Corps, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and with compassion. This position manages food distribution during designated pantry hours and assists individuals and families with available utility assistance, vouchers, and other supportive services in accordance with program guidelines and available funding.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver license from the State of Ohio with clean driving record.
  • Must have knowledge of customer service or prior experience in the food area.
  • Must have knowledge of computers and programs and keyboard.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee all food pantry operations, including ordering food (weekly or bi-weekly) through the Greater Cleveland Food Bank in accordance with ordering deadlines.
  • Receive and verify deliveries, reconcile invoices, and submit documentation to the Finance Office and Corps Officer.
  • Maintain pantry inventory and ensure proper food storage standards are met (including temperature monitoring, product rotation, and compliance with safety regulations).
  • Ensure a minimum inventory of pre-packed grocery bags is maintained in accordance with established household size guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of pantry and storage areas.
  • Operate the food pantry during established hours and provide emergency food assistance as needed outside of regular hours.
  • Conduct client intake, including verification of residency, income, and household composition.
  • Provide utility assistance, clothing vouchers, and other available financial supports in accordance with program guidelines and available funding.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records and statistical reporting for Corps and Food Bank requirements.
  • Submit required monthly reports and statistics by established deadlines.
  • Collaborate with Corps Officers, Office Manager, and Receptionist to ensure coordinated service delivery.
  • Assist with seasonal programs, including Sheetz applications and support of the Angel Tree program.
  • Provide additional support during high-demand seasons (e.g., Christmas assistance programs), which may require flexible scheduling and additional hours.
  • Primary point of contact for all Christmas applications and TSAMM approval entries
  • Provide assistance with special events as needed
  • Responsible for sourcing, referring, and marketing camp programs and Camp NEOSA
  • Attend required meetings and training.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and organizational information.
  • Adhere to The Salvation Army policies, procedures, dress code, and safety standards.
  • Refrain from personal phone use during work hours and comply with all safe driving policies when operating a vehicle.
