About The Position

The Family Service Counselor position at Wayne Boze Funeral Home is responsible for establishing professional relationships with client families to ensure their needs are met during times of need or on a pre-need basis. The role involves guiding families through options related to interment, cemetery property, and related merchandise and services, ensuring that all interactions exceed family expectations. The counselor will perform duties with professionalism and care, maintain compliance with regulations, and actively pursue new prospects through community engagement.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in outside sales production strongly preferred.
  • May require the possession (or ability to obtain) an insurance license as required by applicable state law.
  • Valid state issued driver's license in good standing and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently; bilingual is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in a professional and caring manner with personal appearance, honesty, integrity, and ethical business acumen.
  • Provide tours and guide families to the cemetery lot location.
  • Build relationships, ensure excellent service, and develop potential referrals while attending services and visitations for client families.
  • Schedule and conduct aftercare appointments to ensure client family satisfaction and obtain referrals.
  • Ensure compliance with state and industry regulations and company policies by accurately completing required documents.
  • Maintain strict adherence to pricing structures and submit all contracts, required documents, and payments to the Business Office.
  • Report to the Sales Manager all progress and submit all required reports timely.
  • Actively pursue the development of new prospects and community-based contacts through presentations.
  • Sustain positive communication and cooperation with all funeral homes, departments, and team members.
  • Consistently meet or exceed company standards in revenue generation.
  • Protect confidentiality of company and client family information.
  • Participate in all required training initiatives.
  • Identify and respond to all hazards at location and on grounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
