About The Position

The Family Resource Specialist plays a crucial role in providing mobile family services, assessing immediate needs, and collaborating with clients to develop case plans. This position serves as a liaison between clients, community service providers, and the Hillsborough County Schools, ensuring that families receive the necessary support and resources to improve their circumstances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the human services field.
  • Two years of work experience in social work or community work.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Knowledge of homeless issues and experience working with individuals with mental health/substance abuse issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Dependability and maturity in handling sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in addiction counseling.
  • Knowledge of community resources available to the homeless population.
  • Comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Provides mobile family services, conducts home visits, and provides on-site school presence.
  • Utilizes motivational interviewing when engaging clients to develop case plans, incorporating housing, employment, and financial stability planning.
  • Coordinates and refers clients to appropriate community partners for services in other areas of need.
  • Provides concrete support services to address client's needs.
  • Maintains an ongoing caseload of up to 40 family cases and weekly contact to track family's progress.
  • Provides transition support for children changing schools.
  • Coordinates with the Housing, Employment, and Educational team to ensure each service will be utilized to best meet the needs of the clients.
  • Maintains up-to-date client case notes, history, and data, utilizing best practices to keep client information confidential.
  • Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to successfully meet program outcomes and contact service agreements.
  • Accesses ASO funds in collaboration with Children's Board of Hillsborough County, as payor of last resort to secure needed items to support client's needs.
  • Participates in onsite school events to increase networking and marketing of the program services offered.
  • Meets personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals as stated on the KPI.
  • Maintains professional boundaries.
  • Keeps confidential records up to date and according to the Code of Ethics.
  • Serves as representative with community partners regarding the Pathways to Hope program as needed.
