About The Position

The Family Advocate supports the health growth and development of young children by working in partnership with families enrolled in the Family Resource Center at Momauguin School/Overbrook ELC. The Family Advocate provides case management, conducts home visits,coordinates parent engagement programming, connects families to community resources, and supports school readiness through strong family-school relationships. This role ensures that family engagement and support services comply with state and federal guidelines, NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct Standards, SDE and CT Early Start policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Early Childhood, Human Development, Family Studies, or related field required.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work occasional evening or weekend events

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with families of children birth to five, especially in home visiting or case management settings, preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain individualized Family Partnership Agreements and goal plans withfamilies through regular meetings and home visits.
  • Support parents in promoting their child's development, school readiness, and social-emotional learning.
  • Assist families in accessing needed community resources such as childcare, housing support, health services, and early intervention.
  • Recruit and enroll eligible families; maintain waiting lists and documentation in accordance with state and federal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records,and case notes in required data systems.
  • Monitor attendance and follow up when children are absent or ill.
  • Create and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships with parents.
  • Facilitate parent groups, workshops, family events, and evidence-based parenting programs (e.g., Circle of Security, Parents as Teachers, Families in Training).
  • Encourage and support parent involvement in classroom activities, volunteer opportunities, and school governance activities (e.g., Parent Advisory, CommunityTable).
  • Act as a liaison between families, teachers, center leadership, and community partners.
  • Coordinate resource and referral supports including Community Foodshare distribution and Community Dining event.
  • Participate in regular supervision, professional learning, and program evaluation activities.
