About The Position

General Responsibilities: Lead and direct the residency training program, ensuring accountability for its outcomes. Develop, implement, and evaluate the clinical and didactic curriculum. Supervise program administration and operations. Oversee resident recruitment and selection. Provide education, mentorship, supervision, and promotion for residents. Recruit and supervise faculty, ensuring their development and mentoring. Maintain accreditation of the program. Collaborate with clinical partners for resident rotations and learning. Adapt to changes in health care delivery and medical education. Maintain a part-time clinical practice with all regulatory requirements. Directly supervise residents in clinical settings. Participate as a member of departmental and/or organizational leadership. Support the values of the sponsoring institution. Qualifications:  MD or DO degree.  Board-certification by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).  Active medical licensure (or eligibility) in Rhode Island and compliance with all regulatory requirements.  Clinical appointment in good standing (or eligibility) at the sponsoring institution.  Faculty appointment in good standing (or eligibility) at an academic affiliate.  Significant experience of at least 3 years in medical education (preferably in Graduate Medical Education).  Outstanding oral and written communication skills.  Exceptional attention to detail and leadership skills, with the ability to manage complex relationships with stakeholders.  Familiarity with accreditation requirements or ability to learn them.  Other employment conditions as set by the sponsoring institution/Human Resources. Significant Job Functions: 2 Years Prior to Resident Matriculation: Understand ACGME minimum accreditation requirements and RPS Criteria for Excellence. Develop program mission and vision in collaboration with the sponsoring organization. Participate in budget formulation. Lead competency-based curricular design and complete accreditation application. Assist with physical design of Family Medicine Practice space. Engage with marketing and affiliated academic institutions. Plan resident recruitment and clinical rotations. Participate in accreditation processes. 1 Year Prior to Resident Matriculation: Oversee resident recruitment, including ERAS application review and NRMP Match process. Design first-year curriculum and develop resident assessment tools. Plan faculty development and supervise support personnel. After Resident Matriculation: Adhere to ACGME requirements and oversee clinical curriculum implementation. Collaborate with rotation directors and advocate for resources. Conduct routine resident assessments and evaluate curricula. Maintain part-time patient care and precept residents. Support ongoing faculty development and adapt to changes in health care market dynamics. Physical Effort/ Environment: Position requires some physical exertion and dexterity in performing medical procedures and patient care. Work Schedule Demands: Full-time (40 hours), including: 20 hours for Family Medicine Program Director leadership. 8 hours for precepting (two 4-hour blocks). 8 hours of patient care. 4 hours of administrative duties. Participation in call/coverage on departmental rotation. Communication Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in medical terminology. Requirements
