A Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO) is a healthcare professional specialized in providing comprehensive medical care to individuals of all ages within a family unit. They serve as the primary point of contact for patients, managing a wide range of medical conditions, promoting preventive care, and addressing the diverse health needs of patients across the lifespan.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor degree or DO Degree from an accredited institution.
  • 3 years residency training in Family Medicine.
  • Current unrestricted State Medical License.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine.
  • Current State D.E.A. Certificate.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuing medical education and staying informed about advancements in family medicine.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to accommodate patient needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish and Creole language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough medical examinations and assessments of patients.
  • Diagnose and treat various acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Provide routine check-ups and preventive care services.
  • Educate patients on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and disease prevention.
  • Discuss age-appropriate screenings and immunizations with patients.
  • Manage and monitor patients with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.
  • Coordinate care with specialists when needed.
  • Foster open communication to address family health concerns.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
  • Consult with and refer patients to specialists as needed.
  • Coordinate care plans with other healthcare providers.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide initial stabilization.
  • Engage in community health initiatives and educational programs.
