About The Position

Palo Alto County Health System (PACHS) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Family Practice Clinic team. Position Overview Under the direction of the provider and clinic leadership, the Family Practice Clinic RN/LPN/CMA provides competent clinical care to patients of all ages. This role includes direct patient care, assisting providers with examinations and procedures, administering medications and immunizations, supporting diagnostic testing, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation to promote patient safety and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN or LPN nursing program or accredited Medical Assisting program
  • Current State of Iowa nursing license (RN/LPN), if applicable
  • BLS/CPR certification required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time‑management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with office and clinical equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) months of previous ambulatory or clinic experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within scope of practice for patients of all ages
  • Prepare patients for clinic visits by documenting chief complaints, allergies, vital signs, and pertinent history
  • Assist providers with exams, treatments, and in‑office procedures
  • Perform laboratory and diagnostic testing, maintain quality control, and report critical values to providers promptly
  • Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments as ordered, and document all care provided
  • Provide patient education using the teach‑back method to ensure understanding
  • Triage and manage incoming patient phone calls and provide follow‑up as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and complete electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Ensure clinical equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and sanitized
  • Assist with training and orientation of new clinic staff
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, safety, and infection control standards
