About The Position

The Family Peer Advocate will deliver vital services to pregnant and postpartum women consistent with the Preserving Families Through Partnership model design. In this role, you will be part of a compassionate, collaborative team focused on making a meaningful difference in the lives of high-risk mothers affected by substance use. Your skills in outreach, advocacy, and case management will profoundly impact families within the community, promoting positive recovery journeys and fostering resilience. Your responsibilities will include direct outreach, child and family team coordination, home and community visits, and the development of tailored Treatment Plans. You’ll play a crucial role in coordinating and delivering individualized services, offering recovery-focused case management and rehabilitation support to mothers dealing with various challenges including substance use concerns and environmental stressors. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in psychology, social work, sociology, education, nursing, or related human service field.
  • Applicants without a bachelor’s degree may qualify with a combination of education, experience, and certifications approved by Brightli.
  • Must maintain certification in CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current insurance.
  • Acquire and maintain Substance Abuse Credentials at the highest level allowed by the Missouri Credentialing Board (MAADC and either CPS or MRSS Credential).
  • Must pass a background check, including criminal history, abuse/neglect, and driving record.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in the work environment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects.
  • Sedentary work primarily involving sitting but may involve brief periods of walking or standing.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Brightli and clients in a positive manner to clients, staff, and community members.
  • Advocate for clients while treating all individuals and families with dignity and respect.
  • Manage an assigned case load of clients, based on severity level.
  • Facilitate the Child and Family Team process, create and monitor individualized Treatment Plans, and deliver ongoing services as outlined.
  • Establish a positive, non-judgmental relationship with each child and family, modeling appropriate behavior as a role model.
  • Teach daily living skills regarding budgeting, home organization, and nutritional planning through modeling and monitoring.
  • Plan and implement recreational, educational, and vocational activities.
  • Provide a minimum of 90 hours of direct client/family service per month based on a full caseload.
  • Document interventions and collect data in a timely manner .
  • Provide safety and crisis intervention as per the Treatment Plan, utilizing resources when needed.
  • Educate mothers on addiction, recovery, and community support resources, attending recovery meetings together.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with kinship providers and foster parents.
  • Attend necessary meetings, trainings , and requirements diligently.
