About The Position

Our church is a non-denominational multi-site church with four St. Louis-area campuses, gathering weekly to study Scripture and experience the message of Jesus through teaching, worship, art, and technology. It aims to be a place for both believers and skeptics to explore truth and ask questions. The Family Pastor is a full-time position specifically responsible for the leadership, vision, and execution of the Kids and Youth Ministry at the Grant’s Trail campus. This role involves developing, encouraging, and supporting all volunteers to ensure high-capacity performance. The Family Pastor will build relationships with children, youth, and their families, and will equip parents to guide their children in knowing, following, and trusting Jesus. A key aspect is utilizing volunteers to implement the strategies and systems of KidsCrossing and YouthCrossing, ensuring that all activities and classes for kids, youth, and families are safe, engaging, and foster spiritual growth. The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively lead children, students, and adults in ministry. A passion for Jesus Christ, the vision of The Crossing, and a desire to help children and families progress in their spiritual journey are essential for this position.

  • BS or BA or minimum of 5 years’ experience leading kids’ ministry
  • 3-5 years’ experience in children’s ministry or education
  • Experience leading volunteer teams
  • Knowledge of child development and current kids’ culture
  • Attend a service at one of The Crossing campuses on a weekly basis
  • Passionate about their relationship with God
  • Baptized after making the thoughtful decision to follow Christ
  • Regard the Bible as God’s final authority in all areas of Christian life and desire to be wholly obedient to it
  • Wholeheartedly affirm The Crossing’s Statement of Faith, including our view on Baptism
  • Live a lifestyle consistent with scriptural principles

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading paid staff (preferred, but not required)
  • Multi-site experience in children’s ministry or education (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Be a translator of and cast vision clearly and frequently to ensure all volunteers are continuously folded into the culture of The Crossing
  • Be a skillful team builder and invest in volunteers to ensure KidsCrossing and YouthCrossing can operate at max capacity
  • Equip and Empower volunteers to invest in kids and students relationally and disciple them spiritually
  • Develop a dynamic leadership team of volunteers (Coaches) that can be handed ministry responsibilities and help you lead others
  • Connect and Celebrate volunteers so they know they belong and feel valued and appreciated
  • Utilize strategic and intentional opportunities for the purpose of encouraging, equipping and discipling parents
  • Implement systems, policies and procedures agreed upon by KidsCrossing and Youthcrossing teams to ensure unity and consistency across sites, safe and secure environments, and efficient use of staff and team members
  • Collaborate with Director of Kids and Youth Ministry to develop and oversee the budget so it effectively and wisely utilizes church resources and maximizes ministry opportunities
  • Responsible for assisting the campus pastor in pastoral duties at the Grant's Trail Campus, including but not limited to facilitating classes, assisting with weekend services and all-campus events and providing care through pastoral conversations, hospital visits, funeral services, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Demonstrates a knowledge and confidence in Scripture
  • Able to effectively navigate the art of leading a Serve Profile or pastoral conversation
  • Champion unity throughout all Crossing Ministries and campuses
  • Be accessible (including non-office hours) to volunteers, families, and other attenders for pastoral care
  • Participate in pastoral meetings and any other duties assigned to pastors at The Crossing
