About The Position

Family Nurse Practitioner - Anderson Open Door Health Services (ODHS) is seeking a full-time, Family Nurse Practitioner at our Anderson Family Practice location. We are in need of a NP who can provide family practice services in our federally qualified health center (FQHC). We provide comprehensive primary, urgent, and preventive healthcare services, as well as select specialty services and social support programs. Ability to pay is not a barrier to care. Services are offered at multiple locations in Muncie and Anderson. NP will provide family practice care to patients of all ages acting as physician extender in the clinic following established standards, practices, and protocols .

Requirements

  • Ability to react calmly in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed written and oral communication.
  • Knowledge of and skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Skill in taking medical history to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining departmental quality assurance and quality control standards.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining departmental quality assurance and quality control standards.
  • Skill in exercising initiative, listening, judgement, discretion, and decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
  • Able to prioritize work, assignments, work independently, and perform duties efficiently.
  • Understanding of individual socio-economic status and lifestyle with respect to individual differences.
  • All nurse practitioners must have written collaborative agreement with a licensed physician according to the requirements of the Indiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN required.
  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, testing, and certification.
  • Possession of an Indiana State Registered Nurse license.
  • Possession of Indiana State Nurse Practitioner Authorization license.
  • DEA certification.
  • CSR registration.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes Open Door Health Services Core Values when interacting with patients, families and co-workers.
  • Complies with all agency policies and procedures concerning corporate compliance including privacy of protected health information.
  • Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Performs a complete physical exam and assessment and record finding.
  • Makes independent provider judgements, collaborating with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients, as appropriate.
  • Remains current in advanced practice changes within specialized area, and where relevant, translate these findings into clinical practice.
  • Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
  • Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnostic and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
  • Per licensing guidelines, administers medications and injections according to physicians’ direction and protocols.
  • Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Maintains and reviews patients’ records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures and reports tests and examination results.
  • Interviews and advises patients regarding health maintenance, illness prevention, normal behavior, social and physical growth and development.
  • Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Provides telephone consultation, follow-up phone calls, and triage patient telephone calls.
  • Manages medical emergencies.
  • Provides monitoring and continuity care between Clinic visits.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ongoing professional growth through participation in relevant educational endeavors and appropriate associations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
