About The Position

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) will provide advanced primary and specialty nursing care to patients at our facility in Baton Rouge, LA. This role involves performing physical exams, recording medical histories, creating care plans, administering diagnostic tests, and managing patient treatments. The FNP will work with diverse patient populations, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric clients, and will be responsible for prescribing medications and ensuring adherence to healthcare guidelines.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in family health.
  • Current licensure and certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Louisiana with prescriptive authority.
  • Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
  • Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and management of client problems.
  • Substantial interpersonal skills for instructing patients and collaborating with health team members.
  • Experience working with homeless and/or low-income clients.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner (Preferred)
  • FNP certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles for various age groups.
  • Apply principles in assessing and interpreting client information.
  • Plan and implement individualized care plans based on age-related needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments of adult and geriatric clients.
  • Establish medical diagnoses and order diagnostic studies.
  • Perform and monitor therapeutic procedures and manage follow-up plans.
  • Prescribe and regulate medications per written Physician Agreement.
  • Document health appraisal data accurately and legibly.
  • Adhere to project, grantor, and governmental guidelines.
  • Act as a resource to healthcare staff and implement educational programs.
  • Develop and evaluate in-service and continuing education programs.
  • Maintain a current level of knowledge in professional practice and continuing education requirements.
  • Contribute to the research process and apply new findings to practice.
  • Identify and secure resources to meet service needs of clients.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities within the agency.
  • Engage in advocacy activities supporting the mission of BRPCC.
  • Perform other activities as deemed appropriate by the agency.
