About The Position

MercyOne North Iowa Family Medicine Residency is seeking a Faculty Physician for a community-based Family Medicine Residency. This flexible practice opportunity allows the physician to choose between outpatient, inpatient, obstetrics, or full spectrum care. The position involves joining a team of 4 Board Certified Family Physicians, along with a doctorate level pharmacist and psychologist on the teaching faculty. The residency program is ACGME accredited with 18 residents and is hospital employed, focusing on teaching in a single hospital. The program has a close relationship with the on-site Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology/Interventional Cardiology Fellowship program. It is affiliated with the University of Iowa, offering optional academic appointments at the University of Iowa and Des Moines University, along with medical student teaching opportunities.

Requirements

• Minimum of an M.D. or D.O. degree from an approved medical school.
• Completion of an ACGME accredited family medicine residency.
• Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
• 1-3 years of experience is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in graduate medical education is preferred, but not required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively deal with a broad range of people and personalities.

Responsibilities

• Involved in the administration, supervision, and patient care activities pursuant to the education of the family medicine residents.
• Provide teaching and mentorship to family medicine residents and medical students.
