About The Position

North Star Behavioral Health is a leading behavioral health facility located in Anchorage, Alaska. Deliver personalized treatment plans tailored to patients across the lifespan. Work within a multidisciplinary team committed to exceptional patient outcomes. 7on/7off block schedule. Manage your patients’ care, including assessments, diagnostics, treatment plans, and follow-ups. Gain experience working with diverse patient populations and complex medical comorbidities. Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, including initial history and physicals (H&Ps) within 24 hours of admission, follow-ups, and discharge planning. Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and support staff to create integrated treatment plans addressing medical and mental health needs. Co-manage patients with complex medical comorbidities alongside mental health providers. Educate patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments to enhance overall health. Provide medical consults and recommend diagnostic tests and treatments as needed. Deliver emergency care within your licensure scope until specialized care is available.

Requirements

  • Licensure: Active Alaska Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license or Alaska Physician Medical license (MD/DO), or the ability to obtain licensure prior to start.
  • Education: Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program OR Completion of an accredited medical school with Family Medicine residency training.
  • Certification: AANPCB or ANCC certification (for Nurse Practitioners) OR Board‑eligible or board‑certified in Family Medicine (for MD/DO).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: Prior clinical experience in an inpatient or acute care setting preferred; behavioral health experience a plus.
  • New graduates with relevant clinical training and strong interest in behavioral health will be considered.
