The Family Experience and Membership Director is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering engaging family-centered programs and pathways that enhance member connection, retention, and community impact. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Recreation Management, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in membership management, customer service leadership, or nonprofit operations.
  • Proven experience in staff supervision and team leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Family Engagement & Retention Serve as a Family Retention and Engagement Specialist, building strong relationships with families to encourage ongoing participation and connection to YMCA programs.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the family experience and remove barriers to engagement.
  • Collaborate with membership, childcare, and program staff to support family pathways across the Y.
  • Program Development & Coordination Family Fun Fridays: Plan, coordinate, and attend Family Fun Friday events, including programming, logistics, setup, breakdown, and on-site engagement.
  • Stay & Play: Coordinate the Stay & Play program, including supervision, scheduling, and assisting with hiring, training, and supporting staff.
  • Welcome Center: Foster a culture of service excellence and accountability.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training and supervising Welcome Center staff.
  • Ensure all family programs are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with YMCA standards and safety guidelines.
  • Community Program Connector Serve as a Community Program Connector, linking families to YMCA offerings and relevant community resources.
  • Build relationships with community partners, schools, and organizations to enhance family engagement and referral pathways.
  • Represent the YMCA at community events and outreach opportunities as needed.
  • Operations & Collaboration Split time between Hogan Family YMCA and Southeast Family YMCA to ensure consistent program delivery and presence at both branches.
  • Coordinate schedules, resources, and communication across locations.
  • Track participation, engagement, and feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities Maintain accurate program documentation, schedules, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, child safety standards, and risk management procedures.
  • Assist with marketing and promotion of family programs in collaboration with branch teams.
